Boutens draaiend gebeente dringt tot mij door!
Het keerde zich heden om in zijn graf,
PEN Nederland serveerde zijn beginselen af!

“PEN stands for the principle op unhampered transmission
of thought within each nation and between all nations,
and members pledge themselves to oppose any form
of suppression of freedom of expression
in the country and community to which they belong,
as well as throughout the world
wherever this is possible.”

De dichter Pieter Cornelis Boutens richtte in 1923 de Nederlandse afdeling van PEN op.
Hij ligt begraven op Oud Eik En Duinen in Den Haag.
